The Instrumental Music students and the MS 217Q Arts Department are pleased to present their Spring Arts Festival on at 6:00pm in the Auditorium. Our students have been working hard to prepare this program for your entertainment and enjoyment. I know the students will give their best efforts as performers and hope that you, as audience members, will help provide the students with a true concert atmosphere.

In order to heighten the experience for you as a listener and for the students as performers, I would like to remind you of the following points of concert etiquette:

  • Plan to arrive on time. It is important that everyone is in his or her seat before the downbeat of the first selection. If you do happen to run a little late, please wait and enter the concert area between musical selections.
  • Listen to the music. While the students are performing, we ask that you give them your undivided attention. Try not to talk while the music is playing.
  • Remain seated. If you find you must leave the concert area for some reason, please wait and do so only between selections.
  • Avoid extra noise. If your cell phone or watch has an electronic alarm, please be sure it is turned off during the concert.
  • Be courteous while taking pictures. Flash photography is discouraged while the students are performing

After the Concert:
  • Congratulate your student!  Even if it was obviously not a perfect performance, your child was brave enough to get in front of a large group of strangers and adults and perform. Make this a teachable and positive experience.
  • Get to know the other parents! Band and Orchestra are group activities for your children and also for you. As your child advances in the program, there will be more events and trips, most likely. Parents play a vital role in helping to fundraise, chaperone, and move equipment.
  • Take lots of pictures! After the concert is over, take lots of pictures.  Your child with friends. With the teacher. With your family.  With their instrument. Help them feel special.

Thank you for your support of the Instrumental Music program and the Arts Department. See you on Thursday!
