Our apartment is still nowhere complete, but we had our housewarming party so I figured I should give you a quick tour of the place. We still have to paint and put things away, but it is really starting to feel like home. First off, I want to thank our realtor Laura Cook for helping us with the long and strenuous coop application and closing. Buying a property is exhausting, but realtors really make the process easier. Of course, I am the daughter of two realtors, so I might be biased and/or brainwashed. Alright, enough shop talk. Let's talk about my apartment!
When you enter, there is a large foyer which we made into a makeshift entry way. The dining table holds all our coats and bags. And opposite that wall is where we put our board games- among my favorites are Blood Rage, Zombicide, and Dominion (Amazon affiliate link below! If you buy it, I get a commission of the sale). This is also where I put my keys and Blair's leash. One day we want to make this a formal entry way with a coat hanger and bench. But for now, this is a nice solution.
The thing that makes me the happiest every day is our incredible view of the George Washington Bridge. I love being able to wake up in the morning and have a moment of solitude with the bridge. And the sunsets behind the bridge are gorgeous- with deep pinks and orange!
Just kidding, I am the happiest about my Will Smith corner! And if you don't know my Will Smith obsession... Seriously? The license plate on there is my actual license plate when I was in high school! And John got me the Will Smith painting for my birthday- that's true love! Our living room is divided into two sections. The first half of the room is our couch which is missing some sort of artwork. If anyone knows of anything that would look good there, let me know! The second half of the living room is our dining table and an incredible gallery wall that John's mom helped us design above our keyboard. We don't sit at the dining table because we either eat on the couch or on the kitchen bar.
I didn't show the kitchen because it is still a hot mess: the stove doesn't work- I almost blew up the apartment trying to make risotto this weekend, and the fridge is older than me, easily. We also need to repaint everything. I do love the kitchen bar concept though. Now I don't have to stand outside the kitchen to talk to John when he is making dinner. And the best part: the stools are swivel so I can spin around and around!
I also didn't show our bedroom because all our junk is piled in there. John and I have big plans for the bedroom design- especially since I spend the most time sleeping there. Behind the bed, we want to paint a statement wall. Across from the bed, we want to have a "sensual wall" in honor of the show I'm Sorry. Blair's crate is right next to me and acts as both my nightstand and my record player table. It has been amazing to play a record before I go to sleep each night. When we finish the bedroom, I will show you what it looks like. But in the meantime go watch I'm Sorry. It's too funny! ?
